It’s a long journey making the right smoothies

For the past few years we’ve been on a journey around Aotearoa/New Zealand (and even further beyond), talking to mums and dads and their whanau (families), asking them what they needed from their kai (food).

Their response has been clear: they want the best for their whanau, but finding the time and all the right ingredients isn’t always easy. For them it’s about real, healthy food, that’s fast and easy to make – and that their kids will actually eat!

So our quest continued…we got back on the road to find the right people and produce to bring you Whai Ora.

We found premium oats in Canterbury, sweet juicy berries in Nelson, lush fruits and vegetables in Gisborne, pure milk from Taupo, and delicious honey from Blenheim. (We also found some special tropical flavours and fun textures from faraway places, but we would like to keep these up our sleeves for the future). Most importantly, we found growers who care as much about looking after our whenua (lands) as we do. Whai Ora had begun, Ka rawe!

Kaitiaki (guardians of the land)

The tradition of kaitiakitanga (guardianship) is at the heart of everything we do. Our sourcing, blending and packaging all show our commitment to preserving natural resources for future generations. We’ve drawn nourishment from Papatuanuku (earth mother) from the beginning of time, and we know that to take care of ourselves we must also take care of our whenua (land).
